Ideas for Server Competitions

So Toast and I have been thinking about how we can engage more of the Aus/NZ CJ community and provide a bit of variety to the server.

I am personally keen on some sort of Speedrun mode, which can be toggled on/off (if possible). Possibly even look into running a speedrunning competition amongst a variety of maps, and not just the commonly run ones. Could potentially look into time handicapping those who have done well in the last Speedrun event etc.

Competitions could be run weekly, at a set time ie. 8:30pm Wednesday as an example.
Other ideas suggested include furthest rpg strafe in X amount of time, highest rpg in X amount of time.

What are your thoughts about running these mini competitions?
Would the Aus/NZ community be interested in participating in these?

Do you have any more ideas that can be added/considered?

I like these ideas, but where would the money be sourced from?

You would need to make custom maps for the height competition, scripted so you cant use 142 etc.

For the awards, the winner could receive Donator rank for 1 week or something along those lines, similar to what was happening with the last competitions

Yeah except the only people who are going to win it in the near future are people who already have dona or better. we are going to have to advertise heaps to the younger people on the server to join in, and possibly sign up to forum too

True Mirko. Hopefully by running some comps it will garner interest from a variety of players who aren't just the usual suspects. It is definitely a step in the right direction to advertise the forums. I think fishy or toast were going to make a server message upon entering the server, replacing the nevada game night one from June.

Or you could just have leagues, Dona + leagues, Admin leagues (or just the two merged), and then the non-ranked people

This sounds like a really good idea. I know I's not an admin or VIP but i think from what rald said maybe there could be like divisions where we have regular jumper with no dona or VIP etc. One for admins/VIP's. Things like that.

Okay so Axle and I have come up with a few ideas, leave feedback below;

Tag Team Runs

Two people run a map together, simultaneously... The team cannot proceed through the jumps until both players have completed previous jump, and are standing on the same platform.


Team Relay

2-3 teams of approximately 3 players battle it out to finish a given map. 3 players are set-up across the map, one at the start, and 2 others are given points through the map. The teams would consist of one experienced jumper, one average, one inexperienced. As the first player reaches the second, the second continues the map, same as the third.

Pretty good idea, for team relay could also use smaller maps and instead of checkpoints each player just speedruns after previous one is finished.

I think we could rank players based on their skill level and place them into groups. This way we could have races with people of similar skill level competing.

But what about people in their own skill groups? Do they automatically win?
And how would you rate people, though maps completed? Speed records achieved? Consistency?

Noob Group
- Everyone

Dogshit Group
- BurntToast

So divisions such as,

admins and vip's (except stated below)
Rald and meist and saint
wags, van, fruitz (but he leaving?
then people like bored
then rookies?

more pedantic or less or is this about right?

Judge on overall compentancy

Prize could be nudes?
